About Us

Spectrum is a club devoted to raising awareness about issues surrounding gender and sexuality. We engage in advocacy within and outside ISP as well as provide a supportive community to people in the club. We organize events such as Ally Week, which is held annually in the spring and coordinate with other LGBTQ+ groups in CEESA schools. Each year is focused on discussing issues relevant to our group members’ experience.

Currently led by Sofie Ercolino in her junior year.

Spectrum History

Spectrum was founded in 2015 by Maria Hamill who had a passion for LGBTQ+ issues and always aimed to spread love, communication and open-mindedness. Initial Spectrum meetings began in fall of 2015 and the first year was filled with planning, chaos and success. The main events hosted in the first year were Ally Week and Day of Silence, which were sponsered by GLSEN. Michelle Zabinski was the Spectrum leader from 2016-2018. Her intention was involving the whole community in the conversation of Allyship. It quickly grew under her, with colaborations between Elementary, Middle and Upper school. She also worked for having a gender neutral bathroom and to have a pride flag infront of the US office.
